Eastern Rosella
In the wild, the Eastern Rosella are gregarious birds. Outside the period of gestation, they live in groups. However, in an aviary environment, it is preferable to create a single couple, possibly in the company of some unrelated species.

SPECIES

Platycercus icterotis, Platycercus elegans, Platycercus flaveolus, Platycercus caledonicus, Platycercus venustus, Platycercus adscitus, Platycercus eximius, and Platycercus adelaidae

DISTRIBUTION

Southeast, Southwest and northern Australia

DIMENSIONS

Approximately between 26 and 39 cm, being the smallest the Icterotis and the largest the Caledonicus

DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE SEXES
Point out the differences between male and female is not easy. The females of these species are often paler and sometimes have a smaller head and beak. Moreover, the body size is smaller.
