This species is usually found in wooded areas. Their body is grey with brownish underparts with bronze margins, wings have bronze and green areas and black bars, underparts are blue-grey, tail is rounded, the head has a distinctive erect black crest. Legs and feet are pink, eyes have an orange-red orbit. A feature of this species is the manner in which it tips the tail when alighting.
